Pedro Moreira Salles (born October 20, 1959) is the current Chairman of Itaú Unibanco the largest private banking institution in Brazil and is a Forbes billionaires listed person with a net worth of US$ 2.6 billion. ==Career== Salles has been unofficially involved with Unibanco since birth, since the bank was headed for several decades by his father, the late Walter Moreira Salles. Pedro joined Unibanco in 1989 and became Chairman of the Board of Directors in 1997, after serving as Vice Chairman for almost six years. In April 2004, Mr. Moreira Salles was elected CEO. He currently serves as Chairman of Unibanco Holdings' Board of Directors and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Unibanco AIG Seguros e Previdência.〔Unibanco 2005 Annual Report〕 Mr. Moreira Salles is also a member of the Group of Fifty (G-50) - a non-profit initiative, composed of a Latin American executives and sponsored by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and the Inter-American Dialogue, in Washington D.C. Additionally, he is a member of the Advisory Board of IBMEC, and Vice-Chairman of PlaNet Finance Brasil, a microcredit Nongovernmental organization (NGO).
